Low Vision Care Clinic

Services available at the Greenslopes Specialty Clinics (previously Outpatients Department)
The Low Vision Clinic is only held on a Tuesday and a referral is needed to obtain an appointment to attend.

It is important to note that the clinic do not sell aids direct to the public an appointment is required to obtain any aids.

What does the Low Vision Clinic do?
The dedicated staff at the Low Vision Care Clinic provide the following services
to our clients:

  • Questions regarding your condition are discussed
  • Assessment of low vision devices (magnifiers, telescopes, spectacles), and the
    prescription of these, where appropriate
  • Dispensing of optical aids
  • Assessment of needs of patient and family in relation to changed
    functioning management in the home environment, provision of
    information about pensions, resources, services and referral to community
    resources, where necessary
  • Closed circuit TV assessment and training in enhancing the use of magnifiers
  • Assistance for people to develop practical solutions to problems such as
    using a telephone, signing their name, pouring a drink, and telling the time
  • Training in safe and independant mobility
