Veterans Overview
Due to the special relationship between Ramsay Health Care and the Department of Veterans' Affairs, a number of unique multidisciplinary services have been developed at Greenslopes Private Hospital to cater for the special needs of entitled veterans and war widows. Such services include the Keith Payne Psychiatric Unit, the Geriatric Medicine and Rehabilitation Unit and the Stroke Unit.
In addition, there are a number of designated services specifically for veterans including: diabetic clinic, glaucoma clinic, cancer care and education programs, lymphoedema management and back management, respiratory rehabilitation, speech pathology and stomal therapy.
While redevelopment of Greenslopes Private Hospital has been a priority since the takeover in 1995, every effort has been and is being made to retain Greenslopes' unique veteran character.
Special places in the Hospital grounds such as the Chapel, and the Peace Grove have been retained, while a Hall of Remembrance has been built as a tribute to veterans, war widows and all who were involved in their care while Greenslopes was a military and repatriation hospital. As a special tribute to Anzacs, the Hospital has built an Anzac Memorial where, on Anzac Day each year, a Dawn Ceremony of Remembrance is held in their honour. |
