12 October 2004
Brisbane’s Greenslopes Private Hospital has been awarded Australia’s number one private hospital in the 2004 Australian Private Hospitals Association Awards for Quality and Excellence.
Announced on the Gold Coast last night, Australia’s prestigious “Hospital Award for Excellence” prize for private hospitals over 70 beds, was awarded to Greenslopes in recognition of its commitment to excellence in the provision of high quality patient care.
Greenslopes was deemed by the judges to excel in a wide range of areas including leadership and management, quality of care, customer focus, human resource management, information management and safe practice and the environment.
In accepting the Award last night, Greenslopes Private Hospital’s Chief Executive Officer Alan Kinkade, said it was an honour for the Hospital to be recognised as Australia’s top private hospital in the provision of quality patient care.
“In winning this Award, the commitment of our staff and doctors to the provision of high quality patient care is duly recognised,” Mr Kinkade said.
Greenslopes Private Hospital is Australia’s largest and fastest growing private hospital and is owned and operated by one of the nation’s largest and most reputable private hospital operators, Ramsay Health Care.
Formerly a Repatriation Hospital, Greenslopes was sold to Ramsay Health Care in 1995 and, with the ongoing support of the Department of Veterans’ Affairs, the Company has concentrated on expanding and improving services for both veteran and private patients since that time.
“The past five years have seen many and significant changes at Greenslopes with the opening of our new theatres, accommodation wing and medical centre, the establishment of the country’s most state-of-the-art Coronary Care Unit; and the redevelopment of many other areas within the hospital.
“We have also been at the forefront of introducing new services to Brisbane and Queensland including brachytherapy for the treatment of prostate cancer, which, until recently, was not available in Queensland.
“These improvements to both the infrastructure and services at Greenslopes will pave the way for Greenslopes to stay at the forefront of the private hospital industry in Queensland in years to come.”
Greenslopes was also recently awarded Queensland’s Large Employer of the Year by the Queensland Department of Education, Training and Industrial Relations for its commitment to staff development and training.
