Your baby • is about 47 centimetres long • weighs 2500 grams • has changing movements because there is less space to move around • has fingernails that reach the ends of the fingers • has moved into a head down position ready to be born • has a mature heart, digestive system and lungs. It is normal for your baby to be born any time between 37 and 42 weeks. at 4 0 w e e ks You • may have vaginal discharge. This could be a ‘show’ which is a small amount of mucus and blood. It leaves the entrance of the womb (cervix) before labour begins. Sometimes you won’t even notice that it has happened. Your baby • is 47 – 54 centimetres long • will decide when labour starts by • weighs about 3400 grams sending a chemical signal to the tissues • is fully matured of your womb.
