GPH News Summer 2016

As 2016 draws to a close, I think it is a good time to reflect on a few of the key achievements of the year as well as look ahead to what awaits us in 2017. In 2016 we have invested significantly in technology in our main theatre complex. In May we commissioned our 18th operating theatre which is dedicated to neuro and spinal surgery and has been fitted out with the latest technology from Brainlab. We are proud to be the first site in Australia to use the Airo intraoperative mobile CT in partnership with new contrasting techniques which makes surgery more accurate and safer for patients. At the same time we invested in the latest model of the da Vinci robot, the Xi, and now run two concurrent robotic surgery theatres. This allows more doctors across a range of specialties to offer patients access to the latest technology and treatments. We are one of the busiest sites in Australia and one of the few with greater than 20 surgeons across multiple specialities including urology, gynaecology, general surgery and ENT trained to use this system. We launched our new brand campaign in July to raise the profile of “The World-Class Doctors” and services that are available here at Greenslopes. So many of our doctors are considered to be some of the best in their field nationally and internationally. The work they perform at Greenslopes is as good if not better than what is performed in the well-known “Centres of Excellence” around the world. We are so proud of the range and quality of services we offer our local community and hope you can take the time to visit our new-look website where you can learn more about our people and services. You may also wish to follow us on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter so you can keep up-to-date with the latest news and events. greenslopesprivate.com.au Construction of a new state-of-the art radiation oncology service is in full-swing at Greenslopes Private Hospital, after more than a decade of planning. The facility is being built on the lower ground level of the Administration Building and is due to open in April 2017. Qld X-Ray will simultaneously acquire a PET-CT which will also be situated in this new footprint. Once the project is complete, patients will be able to receive every aspect of their cancer treatment on campus, removing the burden of having to travel to other sites. I would like to recognise the tremendous efforts of all our clinical and non-clinical staff who work tirelessly day in and day out. I truly admire the work they do. Health care can be a challenging and complex environment but I am regularly buoyed by the commitment and passion I see across the organisation to provide the absolute best of care. Sometimes we may not get it right but we hope our processes for addressing any concerns or feedback ensure we strive for continuous improvement. In closing I just want to wish you all a very special Christmas and New Year with your family, friends and loved ones. For those who are in hospital over the festive season, we wish you a speedy recovery and we trust our dedicated team will ensure your stay is as comfortable as possible. Best wishes, Tim Tim Daniel Chief Executive Officer Greenslopes Private Hospital
