Ebola Plan for Greenslopes Private Hospital Greenslopes Private Hospital has been working to ensure that we are prepared for any patient that GREENSLOPES G may present to PRIVATE the hospital HOSPITAL with suspicion of an Ebola infection. Queensland Health is at the forefront of planning for Ebola Management and Dr David Rosengren, Director of Greenslopes Emergency Centre has been an important representative at state health planning meetings. Queensland Health is monitoring and communicating with any person in Queensland who has been in the Ebola infected area of West Africa recently and has designated centres for the management of suspected and confirmed Ebola patients in Brisbane. • The Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital (RBWH) for adults • The Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital (LCCH) for children Dr Rosengren said that it is very unlikely that they will present to Greenslopes Private Hospital however we have protocols in place for anyone who may present such as travellers from Africa who are uncertain of their risk. “Even the people from the Ebola affected areas are more likely to have the common illnesses from that area such as malaria if unwell.” “We have initiated a plan that has been implemented across Queensland. Any person who presents with a fever or illness who has been in an identified Ebola area of Africa in the past three weeks will be isolated until they are assessed by the staff in Emergency. The system has been used already to assess individuals who have arrived from Africa and there has as yet been no one with a real risk of having the Ebola virus.
