Welcome to the final edition of
GPH News for 2018!
It is hard to believe one year has passed since
I assumed the role of CEO at Greenslopes
Private Hospital – and what a fantastic and
rewarding past 12 months it has been.
2018 has been characterised by some
significant medical milestones for Greenslopes.
This December, we are marking the 10th
anniversary of robotic surgery (p4). We were
the first hospital in Queensland to offer robotic
surgery for urology procedures and now the
service has grown with two robotic surgical
systems operating onsite. This technology
provides opportunities to improve patient
outcomes through robotic surgery in the
areas of colorectal, gynaecology, ENT, and
gynaecology. The latest robotic procedure is a
vasectomy reversal which ensures we continue
to offer the most cutting edge treatments for
our patients (p5).
2018 also marks 20 years of cardiology at
Greenslopes (p10). The hospital continues
to provide a comprehensive cardiac service
with the latest Transcatheter Aortic Valve
Implantation (TAVI) procedure now being
performed.
2 | GPH News – November 2018
Fertility specialist Dr Clare Boothroyd and her
team have recently celebrated 1O years of IVF
at the hospital. And in the oncology field, we
are marking the first anniversary of our onsite
PET/CT scanner which was the first of its kind to
be installed at a private hospital in South East
Queensland (p8).
Our new Nicholson Street Specialist Centre,
which has been under development since
July 2017, is about to officially open. We look
forward to welcoming the owners of those new
specialist suites in the coming weeks.
Finally I would like to wish you all the very best
for the festive season ahead. Stay safe and
we look forward to supporting you and your
families as we move into 2019.
Best wishes,
Chris
