Deputy Prime Minister visits Greenslopes
Australia’s Deputy Prime Minister has
visited Greenslopes Private Hospital
to view the first-class facilities and
meet some of the patients and staff.
The Hon Michael McCormack MP was joined by Senator
Amanda Stoker for a tour of the day oncology services
in the Cyril Gilbert Cancer Centre. They also visited the
Keith Payne Unit which specialises in the treatment of
veteran mental health and learned about life-changing
studies underway through the Gallipoli Medical Research
Foundation.
The visit was facilitated by Ramsay Health Care Australia
CEO, Danny Sims, and Greenslopes Private Hospital CEO,
Chris Went.
“This was a great opportunity to demonstrate to the
Deputy Prime Minister first-hand how we combine the
latest advances in technology and medicine with modern
facilities to create high-quality care for both our current
and future patients,” said Mr Sims.
The Deputy Prime Minister and Senator were also shown
the hospital’s last remaining WWII bunker which has been
converted into a small museum.
“While Greenslopes Private has evolved into a modern,
world-class health care facility, it is also important to
respect its strong veteran history. Elements like the
bunker museum, Keith Payne Unit, and Gallipoli Medical
Research Foundation all play a part in highlighting those
veteran links,” said Mr Sims.
