Welcome to our first edition
for 2019!
It's already shaping up to be a busy year and
I am pleased to update you on some positive
developments happening in the health space at
Greenslopes Private Hospital.
We are looking forward to the development of
new onsite gastroenterology procedure rooms
and a new obstetrics theatre located within our
labour delivery suites to enhance our family
experiences.
It is fabulous to see research in action at
Greenslopes and we are so grateful to have
investment from the Gallipoli Medical Research
Foundation with their innovation grants. These
are very popular with our team and allow their
ideas to make a real difference to patient
outcomes and training of staff.
This edition features some of our amazing
doctors who work tirelessly to give back to the
general community in their spare time.
Dr Chris Smith, cardiothoracic surgeon, is one
such practitioner who generously gives his
spare time to provide Angel Flights for those in
rural Queensland.
Dr Ashish Gupta, orthopaedic surgeon, is in
the process of becoming one of the leading
shoulder surgeons in the world with his
research and awards. The Rowe brothers have
been very busy establishing a new 24 helpline
offering fast-tracked access to a treating
hand surgeon. We are pleased to welcome Dr
Michael Gattas, who brings great expertise in
his area of genetics and is helping to guide
treatments now and into in the future.
Our wonderful team of immunologists at
Compass Immunology led by Dr David
Heyworth-Smith has been busy over the
Christmas break moving into their new rooms
located on the Denman Street side of the
hospital footprint. This move will allow their
busy practice, which provides support to
allergy sufferers, to expand and grow over the
coming years.
Finally, the start to the year couldn’t go without
recognising our wonderful team at Greenslopes
and the Christmas hampers they generously
donate to needy families through St Vincent de
Paul Society every year. It brings us all together
every year to think about those less fortunate
in our local community and commit to giving
something back.
Our team looks forward to the year ahead and
the opportunities it may bring for our patients
and their families.
Until next time,
Chris

you all the very best
