UQ Clinical School project delivers stage one

8 April 2010

We are delighted that the first stage of the UQ Clinical School Development has been completed with first and second year nursing students from the UQ School of Nursing & Midwifery commencing their semester in the new facility located at the top of the campus.

The “old stores” building has been transformed into a state of the art facility for UQ nursing students who train on the Greenslopes Private Hospital Campus. We are planning to give this building an official name which we expect will be announced in the coming months.

The facility features mock wards fitted out to replicate our real patient rooms, tutorial rooms with the best in audiovisual and teaching aids and the simulation training area which will provide a new education facility where students and clinicians can train in certain scenarios.

The next stage of the development will see the project move into the main hospital buildings. The new conference room shell will be built out from the existing Jessie Vasey Wing building with a number of tutorial rooms underneath on the lower lobby level. Once this work is completed we will start on the redevelopment of the existing conference and oak rooms which will become the new collaborative learning centre including the library, JMO lounge and meeting areas.
