Private Hospital has one of the largest private emergency centres in Brisbane. It is
staffed by a team of highly trained doctors and nurses who are on call 24/7 - and there is no referral required.
The Greenslopes Emergency Centre is known for its expertise in handling cardiac cases, stroke patients and people with sporting injuries. A dedicated acute cardiac emergency area, paediatric assessment area, and geriatric assessment area were all established at the hospital in 2006.
We provide excellent emergency care and have access to a wide range of tests, specialists and treatments. Whether you present by ambulance or private transportation, you will be assessed in a timely manner and your care will be prioritised according to the urgency of your presenting condition.
The Greenslopes Emergency Centre is located less than 6km from Brisbane’s CBD, easily accessible from Logan Road or the Pacific Motorway, with parking available outside the entrance.
As a private emergency centre, there is an out of pocket fee which will be discussed with you by our clerical staff upon your arrival. This cost of $175.00 - $205.00 is the only amount you will pay on the day (for Medicare eligible patients).
Please note: private health insurance is not required for treatment in our department. If require admission into hospital, options for your care will be discussed with you at the time.
We understand a visit to the Emergency Centre can be an unexpected and overwhelming experience. As a result, we encourage all patients and visitors to ask staff any questions they may have regarding their care.

Our expert team of medical and clinical staff will assess and treat any workplace injuries in a timely, streamlined and efficient manner.
Private health insurance is not required in these instances.

Sports Injury Service
Greenslopes Private Hospital has launched a Sports Injury Service, which offers discounts and fast-tracked treatment for people who are injured while playing or training for a recognised sporting club or school.
The service can be accessed 24/7 at the hospital’s Emergency Centre off Newdegate Street.
People can receive immediate clinical assessment, initial treatment, imaging, and a referral to a specialist if needed.
If a patient needs to see a specialist, Emergency Centre staff will match them with an ideal doctor for that particular injury (e.g. orthopaedic surgeon or neurosurgeon).
Eligible patients accessing the Sports Injury Service can receive a reduced out-of-pocket fee of $75 after the Medicare rebate.
The fee includes plain X-ray and pathology but does not include radiology services other than plain X-ray, splints, crutches or pharmacy products. Patients must also hold a valid Medicare card.
No referral or private health cover is required for Greenslopes Emergency Centre visits.
Discounted fees apply to the Greenslopes Emergency Centre only; normal fees and private health insurance cover apply if visits result in admission to the hospital.
