Cancer Care - Day Chemotherapy

In May 2009 Greenslopes Private Hospital opened its new state-of-the-art day oncology unit, The Cyril Gilbert Cancer Centre, offering patients the very best of care while undergoing cancer treatment. The facility has met the growing demand for quality cancer services in South East Queensland.

Boasting a modern, spacious environment with 32 private treatment areas, the Centre has been purpose-built to create a comfortable setting for patients.

A range of value added services are offered including wireless internet access, flat screen televisions for each patient, information and support sessions, and wellness services including tailored programs by exercise physiologists, group yoga and tai chi sessions, massage and dietetics services. Specialists and supportive care teams have particular interests in ensuring maintenance of health and fitness beyond the immediate needs of cancer surgery or chemotherapy. Specialists in oncology, leukaemia and lymphoma care along with cardiac and respiratory physicians, fertility experts, sports physicians, nurse specialists and allied health professionals work together in a vibrant atmosphere focusing on ensuring not just a smooth recovery from cancer treatment but also a faster return to normal life.
