Our Services: Facilities - Cyril Gilbert Cancer Centre
Cyril Gilbert Cancer Centre
Greenslopes Private Hospital offers both day and inpatient cancer services for patients undergoing treatment for a range of cancers. Our Cyril Gilbert Cancer Centre was opened in May 2009. This new day oncology unit features expanded, modern day treatment facilities including 32 individual patient areas, treatment rooms, consulting rooms for doctors and a large waiting room and meeting space.
In partnership with the Gallipoli Medical Research Centre, the hospital has created a new style of cancer care service in which a more personalised approach to cancer care is combined with cutting edge scientific and clinical research. A special focus on haematology and cancer care for the young and young at heart in the private setting adds to Greenslopes’ long established reputation in cancer care for the older veteran community.
Patients enjoy their own private treatment area so that they can continue to work, study and socialise during cancer treatment. Wireless internet access is available for purchase for either single use or multiple visits. Additionally, patients are able to purchase a prepaid patient parking card for use when visiting the hospital for their treatment.
In keeping with the tradition of naming areas of the hospital after veterans, the new unit has been named after well-known Queenslander and Ex-Prisoner of War, Mr Cyril Gilbert OAM. Cyril has had a long association with the hospital and remains a high profile advocate and mentor for the veteran community since returning from war in 1945.
