Breast pump hire service
Mothers can now hire breast pumps directly from
Greenslopes Private Hospital, thanks to a new
partnership between Ramsay Pharmacy and Medi-Rent.
The Medela Symphony is a hospital-grade
pump (used at Greenslopes
Maternity) with features that are
based on clinical research to help
meet individual needs through the
breastfeeding journey.
Benefits include helping to initiate
lactation, build and maintain milk
production, and alleviate mastitis.
“We understand the early concerns
of ensuring your baby is feeding and
sleeping well, which is why we set
up a service where we could provide
products and services to make the
transition home as smooth as possible,”
said Michael Rose, Managing Director
of Medi-Rent.
Women can order their Medela
Symphony breast pumps over the
phone or online, before picking them
up from the Ramsay Pharmacy which
is open 24 hours a day at Greenslopes
Private Hospital.
“We are excited to be involved with this
initiative because it offers convenience
for women during what can often be an
overwhelming time. There is no deposit
required, and mothers can pick up
the breast pumps as they are leaving
hospital,” said Lynne Phelan, Pharmacist
Manager at Ramsay Pharmacy.
The pump is available for home rental
from $32.50/week (minimum hire: four
weeks). The double kit (required with
each pump for hygiene reasons)
costs $69.95.

it is cleaned and tested prior to delivery
in a medical-grade cleaning facility.

Patients receiving
treatment in the
Jessie Vasey Wing of
Greenslopes Private
Hospital will now benefit
from more freshly-converted
single bed
rooms with private
ensuites.
A 12 month renovation of the area
has just been completed, which
involved upgrading facilities in eight
wards. This project was part of a
commitment to ensure patients’
hospital stays are as comfortable as
possible.
Director of Clinical Services, Terry
McLaren said, “We would like to say
an enormous thank you to everyone
for their support and assistance
throughout the upgrade of the Jessie
Vasey Wing.”
“The creation of new single rooms
has greatly improved our standard
of accommodation, while the
refurbishment of the clean and dirty
utility rooms means an improved
working environment for staff,” Ms
McLaren said.
Construction is still underway on
another multistorey development at
Greenslopes Private Hospital.
The Nicholson Street Specialist
Centre will provide three levels of
medical consulting suites and two
levels of parking. It is expected to be
completed later this year.
