Dr Christopher Smith graduated from the University of Queensland, subsequently trained in General Surgery in Brisbane and then Cardiothoracic Surgery at The Prince Charles Hospital Brisbane and the Austin Hospital Melbourne. He subsequently completed a Postgraduate Fellowship at the University of Virginia Medical Centre Charlottesville, USA.
Christopher returned to Australia as a Cardiac Surgeon at Princess Alexandra Hospital (2000-2006) and has been a visiting cardiac surgeon at Greenslopes Private Hospital since 2003. He is currently the Chair of Cardiothoracic Surgery.
Christopher has been involved in TAVI (trans-catheter aortic valve replacement) at Greenslopes Private since the commencement of the program, and is an accredited TAVI operator.
In his spare time, Chris is a volunteer pilot for Angel Flight.
Christopher's main practice is at Greenslopes Private Hospital and he also consults in Toowoomba and Hervey Bay.
