Emergency Centre Redevelopment

The Emergency Centre is currently undergoing extensive redevelopment with the completion date to be mid-2021. The centre is still fully operational welcomes all patients. During this renovation period you may experience minor construction noise or inconvenience. However, our experienced staff will continue to provide high quality emergency care 24/7.  When finished the Emergency Centre it will be a state-of-the-art facility with dedicated resuscitation, procedure and isolation rooms, a fast-track facility and an in-department CT Scan and X-ray.


The Greenslopes Emergency Centre is known for its expertise in handling cardiac cases, stroke patients and people with sporting injuries. A dedicated acute cardiac emergency area, paediatric assessment area, and geriatric assessment area were all established at the hospital in 2006.

We provide excellent emergency care and have access to a wide range of tests, specialists and treatments. Whether you present by ambulance or private transportation, you will be assessed in a timely manner and your care will be prioritised according to the urgency of your presenting condition.


The Greenslopes Emergency Centre is located less than 6km from Brisbane’s CBD, easily accessible from Logan Road or the Pacific Motorway, with parking available outside the entrance.

Fees and payment 

As a private emergency centre, we are classed as an outpatient clinic and as such there are fees payable for service. We do ask that you pay your account in full and our staff will then process your claim to Medicare (for all eligible patients). Your rebate should be deposited into your nominated bank account within 24-48 hours. The out-of-pocket fee is $175 - $205 depending upon the time of your presentation.

Please note, private health insurance is not required for treatment in our department. If admission into hospital is required, options for your care will be discussed with you at the time.

We understand a visit to the Emergency Centre can be an unexpected and overwhelming experience. As a result, we encourage all patients and visitors to ask staff any questions they may have regarding their care.


Our expert team of medical and clinical staff will assess and treat any workplace injuries in a timely, streamlined and efficient manner.

Private health insurance is not required in these instances.

Injured employees will not incur any personal expenses if their employer has WorkCover, due to our direct billing arrangement.

Sports Injury Service

Greenslopes Private Hospital has launched a Sports Injury Service, which offers discounts and fast-tracked treatment for people who are injured while playing or training for a recognised sporting club or school.

The service can be accessed 24/7 at the hospital’s Emergency Centre off Newdegate Street.

People can receive immediate clinical assessment, initial treatment, imaging, and a referral to a specialist if needed.

If a patient needs to see a specialist, Emergency Centre staff will match them with an ideal doctor for that particular injury (e.g. orthopaedic surgeon or neurosurgeon).

Eligible patients accessing the Sports Injury Service can receive a reduced out-of-pocket fee of $75 after the Medicare rebate.

The fee includes plain X-ray and pathology but does not include radiology services other than plain X-ray, splints, crutches or pharmacy products. Patients must also hold a valid Medicare card.

No referral or private health cover is required for Greenslopes Emergency Centre visits.

Discounted fees apply to the Greenslopes Emergency Centre only; normal fees and private health insurance cover apply if visits result in admission to the hospital.
