Dr Vasant Rajan is a Brisbane based General Surgeon with interests in colorectal surgery. He completed his medical degree from the University of Mumbai, India in 2001. He pursued surgical training in the United States of America after completing his United States Medical Licensure Examination. In 2007 he moved to Australia for a fellowship.
Dr Rajan undertook advanced general surgical training in Sydney through the Royal Prince Alfred & Concord Hospitals obtaining his FRACS in 2015. He went on to pursue a Masters in Surgery at the University of Sydney following which he undertook 2 years of subspecialty colorectal surgical training at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Adelaide & Liverpool Hospital in Sydney. He is accredited by the conjoint committee (GESA) for colonoscopies and a member of the RACS and CSSANZ.
He has an active interest in research having published & presented at National and International meetings/conferences, while continuing to undertake research projects in his current role.
Dr Rajan has experience in dealing with all aspects of colorectal diseases such as bowel cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, diverticular disease, anorectal and pelvic floor disorders. He is skilled at laparoscopic and minimally invasive techniques in managing these conditions including advanced endoscopic techniques in colonoscopies.
Dr Rajan strives to provide personalised, empathetic and high-quality care to all his patients. He currently holds public appointments at Logan and Redland Hospital and is focussed on developing and delivering an excellent colorectal surgical service to all his patients.
