Dr Koefman is a graduate of the University of Tasmania (MBBS, Hons) who has undertaken specialist training in neurosurgery centres across Australia, including Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane. During this time, Dr Koefman was trained and mentored by many of Australia's most senior subspecialty neurosurgeons. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, and a member of the Neurosurgical Society of Australasia.
Dr Koefman is actively involved in spinal research, and has published his independent research on lower back pain in The Journal of Neurosurgery: Spine. He is currently pursuing further research in the field of spinal biomechanics.
Dr Koefman is trained in neurosurgery with interests in Neuro-oncology, Neuro-endoscopy and Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery. His philosophy toward spine surgery centres around minimalistic and safe intervention.
