Dr Doug King is an Orthopaedic Surgeon with an interest in lower limbs including conditions of the the hip, knee, foot and ankle joints. He has regular operating lists at Greenslopes Private Hospital.
His scope of practice includes:
- Hip conditions, including joint replacement surgery, utilising an anterior approach where appropriate
- Knee conditions, including joint replacement surgery, arthroscopy, ligament and cartilage reconstruction and acute knee injury management
- Foot and ankle conditions
- Lower limb trauma surgery
- Revision hip and knee replacement surgery
After graduating with first class honours from the University of Queensland School of Medicine, Dr King subsequently trained in orthopaedic surgery in regional Queensland and Brisbane, receiving his Fellowship from the Royal Australian College of Surgeons in 2009. Since then, he has been based in Brisbane where he holds a part-time public appointment at the Princess Alexandra Hospital and is a senior lecturer (clinical) at the University of Queensland School of Medicine.
Dr King is committed to delivering a high standard of care to all his patients. In 2012 he was awarded a Queensland Health Australia Day Award for excellence in the care of the elderly, fractured neck -of- femur patients.
Professional affiliations include Fellowship of the AOA, Memberships of the Australian Arthroplasty Society, the AOA Trauma Society, the Foot and Ankle Society and the AMA.
