Dr Rowe studied Medicine at The University of Melbourne where he received a full residential Scholarship from Trinity College. He completed his MBBS as well as a BMedSci and DipMus in clarinet.
Developing an early interest in surgery, he completed his basic training at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, going on to general surgery advanced training in 2008. Having developed an interest in Plastic Surgery he commenced a PhD under the supervision of Prof Wayne Morrison, an international leader in Plastic Surgery, which he is now working to complete, before commencing Plastic Surgery training in 2012.
Dr Rowe commenced his Plastic Surgery training in Melbourne, focusing primarily on hand surgery, before moving back home to Brisbane where he trained in the major Plastic Surgery centres at Princess Alexandra Hospital, Royal Brisbane Hospital and Mater Hospital.
During this time he continued his training in hand surgery, obtaining extensive experience in major hand trauma, as well as all other aspects of hand surgery, both emergent and elective. He also trained under leaders in the Head and Neck field, especially mentored by Dr Vedella Hinckley and Dr William Cockburn at the Royal Brisbane Hospital, obtaining unrivalled training in Head and Neck cancer resection, and with Head and Neck Reconstructive Surgeons at both the Royal Brisbane and Princess Alexandra Hospital.
During his training he received the Plastic and reconstructive surgery Emmett Prize for best research presentation, and continues his active involvement with research projects in both clinical and basic science, with his PhD on adipose tissue engineering to be submitted this
