First aid and CPR for babies

Oct 03, 2017

Parents now have the chance to learn CPR and first aid classes for babies and children through CPR Kids at Greenslopes Private Hospital.

The course equips parents with life-saving skills taught by expert paediatric nurses and midwives who specialise in children’s health.

The three hour sessions focus on emergency situations including choking, drowning, fever, burns, head injuries, and more.

“Our baby CPR and first aid classes provide parents and carers with a toolbox of knowledge, hands-on learning and real-life demonstrations so that they are prepared to take on the most common first aid emergencies that they may face,” said CPR Kids founder Sarah Hunstead.

All class content is evidence-based and all CPR and first aid learning comes from the Australian Resuscitation Council, ILCOR, ASCIA and APLS.

Greenslopes Private Hospital has announced two initial dates for the program: Sunday 29 October and Sunday 26 November 2017. Based on interest, the dates for the 2018 program will then be set.

“We are pleased to offer these classes to empower parents to respond to any difficult situations that may arise,” said Terry McLaren, Director of Clinical Services at Greenslopes Private Hospital.

“This course adds to our already diverse and high quality range of maternity services, making us the hospital of choice for many mums and dads in Brisbane and beyond.”

The CPR and first aid sessions will be held at Greenslopes Private Hospital at a cost of $90 per person + GST.
