First baby born at Greenslopes Private Hospital

Feb 26, 2013

Greenslopes Private Hospital has welcomed the arrival of the first baby ever to be born on site in the 70 year history of the hospital. Baby Mia was born at 8:31am on Tuesday 26 February 2013 to Melissa and husband Michael, who became the first family to experience the Hospital's new maternity service.

Two more babies were born at Greenslopes on Tuesday, creating an excited buzz around the hospital.

Built as part of a $47 million major development, Greenslopes Maternity is Brisbane’s newest maternity service in more than a decade.

Since bookings opened last year, more than 250 women have booked to have their babies at Greenslopes Maternity, whose vision is to combine quality clinical care with first class luxury and service.

Greenslopes CEO Mark Page commented that the hospital, originally the 112th Australian General Hospital (a military hospital)  established during World War Two, and then for many years a repatriation/DVA hospital prior to Ramsay Health Care taking over in 1995, will embrace a new community with the inclusion of the new service.

“The introduction of maternity services at Greenslopes will add a new and wonderful dimension to our hospital,” Mr Page said.

“Mothers and babies and young families will be a welcome and regular sight throughout the corridors of the hospital.

“I’m delighted to welcome baby Mia as the first Greenslopes baby, and I look forward to welcoming many Greenslopes babies in the days, weeks and years to come.”
