Greenslopes employees enjoy the gift of giving this Christmas
Dec 07, 2020
Greenslopes Private Hospital employees have helped brighten the Christmas of dozens of local families by donating thousands of dollars’ worth of gift cards to St Vincent de Paul.
Each year, staff normally donate toys, food and gifts to the charity to be distributed to families in need, however COVID-19 restrictions forced them to modify their Christmas Appeal in 2020 by providing gift vouchers instead.
Nurse Unit Manager, Cath Stewart, who has helped coordinate the Greenslopes Private Hospital Christmas Appeal for 22 years, said it was great to come up with an innovative way to still help families this Christmas.
“It was such a positive outcome given the year that 2020 was. A lot of our employees did it tough this year too but it was just so wonderful to see them still wanting to support other families in our community,” Ms Stewart said.
St Vincent de Paul representatives were this morning presented with gift vouchers for 54 families who live in areas including Mt Gravatt, Annerley and Holland Park.
Ms Steward said several departments took part in this year’s Christmas Appeal.
“A special shout out to Environmental Services - they supported 10 families while the catering team helped four families and our volunteer team supported three families,” Ms Stewart said.
“From the whole team we really hope these vouchers spread some Christmas joy and we look forward to helping St Vincent de Paul again next year.
