New gender statistics for International Women's Day

Mar 07, 2018

New statistics show women make up 79 per cent of the workforce at Greenslopes Private Hospital, giving staff extra reason to celebrate International Women’s Day on Thursday 8 March 2018.

The latest figures show females account for 88.7% of Registered Nurses, 89.5% of Enrolled Nurses, and 92% of Clinical Nurses.

A further 72% of catering attendants and 76% of physiotherapists are women.

In the maternity ward, 100% of Registered Midwives and 91% of Clinical Midwives are female as well.

Women also largely feature in management roles, accounting for 92% of Nurse Unit Managers and 80% of the Executive Team.

Greenslopes Private Hospital’s new female CEO, Christine Went, said women play a vital role in Australia’s ever-changing health care industry.

“I’m proud to be leading a hospital filled with strong women - and men for that matter - of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities.”

“Out of well over 2,000 employees, four-fifths of them happen to be female,” Ms Went said.
