Speak Up For Patient Safety

Jun 05, 2017

Greenslopes is the first private hospital in Queensland to launch a new initiative that escalates awareness of patient safety and encourages staff to challenge potentially risky behaviour.

Ramsay Australia’s Speak Up For Patient Safety (SUFPS) program is a Vanderbilt-based scheme which promotes professional accountability in partnership with the Cognitive Institute.

The evidence-based framework relies on two pillars of action: proximal and distal.

Components include graded assertiveness training for all patient-facing staff, a feedback platform for staff to report both positive and negative experiences, a peer messenger system, and professional accountability leaders.

Speak Up For Patient Safety is part of Greenslopes Private Hospital’s commitment to reinforce our culture of safety and quality.

“The program is about empowering all staff to promote patient safety and provides a platform that ensures staff maintain high professional standards across the organisation.” said Director of Medical Services Dr Sean Rothwell.

SUFPS will launch at Greenslopes Private Hospital on Thursday 8 June.
